Tree Planting
We specialise in native broadleaved woodland creation though are available for commercial planting contracts too. Having designed and implemented EWCO (England Woodland Creation Offer) grants for farmers, landowners, and environmental charities, we know how to plant to the specifications of a scheme. In the years after planting, we can provide beat up services, including tree tube removal and manual weeding of scrub. We are happy to tackle locations which are difficult to get to, for example, tree planting in remote upland areas.
Drystone Walling
We provide a full range of drystone walling services including: field gap repairs, wall ends, and stone stiles. We have experience working across a range of different types of stone and are happy to wall in remote locations, such as on steep hills. We have been lucky to work on slate walls in the Lake District, limestone and gritstone in the Yorkshire Dales, and granite in the Scottish Cairngorms, amongst others.

Hedgelaying
Hedgelaying is a traditional craft which was once practiced nationwide. Before wire fences were invented, farmers used to keep their stock contained in fields by laying thorn hedges, comprising largely of hawthorn and blackthorn, with other species seeding into the hedge over time. The laid hedges were thick and spiky enough to deter livestock from pushing through. Nowadays hedgelaying is valued for extending the life of existing hedges and for providing habitat for wildlife. We follow the Lancashire and Westmorland hedgelaying style in which the laid hedge is staked on both sides. We are members of the National Hedgelaying Society and can be found on their list of contractors. We also plant hedges.
